Hey there!

You will find below a list of jazz musicians/ensembles which you can utilize for your listening assignments.  Also included is the example of the assignment I showed you in class on Wednesday.

Besides the analysis of the piece you have chosen, you are also responsible to make a list of other recordings by the artist whose recording you are analyzing.

The assignment is due on Wednesday, October 8 in class

Good luck and happy listening!

Duet Etude - #22
Percussion students will play the etude on mallets and the duet part on snare.

Scale Requirements
Play the 4 scale cycle (major, relative natural minor, harmonic minor, and melodic minor) for 3 of the keys, listed below.  Students will choose 2, and the teach will choose 1.

Concert pitch:  F+, B flat+, E flat+, A flat+, G+, D+, or A+.

Tempo for scales:  1/4 note = 96.  Major scale to be played in eighth notes.  All minor scales to be played in 1/4 notes.

You must hand in the four scales, for each of the keys you choose to play, written on a piece of script paper.  This is due when you play your summative test.
