Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of our Music Students!

from your friendly neighbourhood ACI Music Teachers!
As we are using tomorrow to catch up some missed tests, there is NO MORNING VOCAL Thursday, December 20, 2012.  MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Hello Senior Strings!

The updated marking sheets are available through the Strings tab at the top of the page.

Please be aware that the performance requirements have changed slightly. Each group is required to perform both the Moldau Theme (#73 memorized first 8 bars with repeat) and their original 16 bar composition; the performance of the Moldau will not be done as a whole class performance.
I would ask that a member from each group brings me a copy of their piece at the beginning of lunch on Thursday so that I can photocopy it for my records, and to save time at the beginning of class.

I know this is something that is new and different for you. Please commit to doing a good job. Work before school tomorrow (I have vocal tests so the classroom is open to get instruments) and during lunch. As well, you can sign out instruments and practice after school too.

Good Luck!
Mrs. O

Hello Senior Strings

Thursday, Dec 20th we will perform our own Moldau Theme Rondo. Each group must create their own "program piece" based on something they "see" or somewhere they "are" in our city. The listeners must be able to see what's happening through your music. Each group must have the following prepared for their presentation:

#73 from the Brown book, measures 1-8 repeated
Performance using all members on their string instruments from class (minimum of 16 bars)
A notated version of the performance (non traditional notation is acceptable)
Written paragraph that describes what the listeners should "see" when they hear your music

Lets discuss how this should be evaluated next class.
Have fun!

Here are the groups

Chamber Orchestra! Listen to the great recording of the Handel I found! Wow! The only issue is the intro is too fast, but otherwise the style is great! Have a listen, put in on your iPods! Rehearsal for the next few weeks goes until 5:30! Happy listening and practicing!

Hey Concert Orchestra!

Here's a recording of the Brandenburg. Have a listen to the style, tempo, phrasing. Remember our piece is an arrangement of this work, so there are parts that won't be in your music, but do your best to follow along. A few weeks of hard work ahead, keep your eye on December 11th!

Again, please find an artist on the list (your own instrument is recommended), and find an album of theirs to dig into. Don't be afraid to do a bit of research into who they are, and what albums they might be known for.

Two sites that will be helpful for you:

Youtube is also handy for live performance footage.

If you have any questions, bug Mr. Lum or Mr. Butash!

If you have missed the one day to return your uniform, you can give it to Mr. Lum or Ms. Kelson, BUT you will not get your $5 deposit back.

the music teachers
We will not be having a rehearsal Monday June 4th because I will be doing AMR testing.  We will meet at 8am on Monday, June 11th in MR1 to run through the music one more time before we go over to SAM to perform.  Please wear a black shirt (can be t-shirt or ACI music clothing) and dark bottoms (can be shorts, capris, pants etc.).

Miss Lintott
Hi Madrigals,

The teachers from Kenya we sang for last fall want a video tape of us singing The Size Of My Heart to use at their music festival in African, how cool is that?

Can we all meet on this Tuesday, June 5 to video tape it in the auditorium?  We will talk about this in class on Monday, but we will have handed back our uniforms by that time so perhaps we can wear all black just to look somewhat the same?

It should only take us about 15 minutes...

mrp!
Hi guys and girls from Influence 11,
